Cimmaron Mountains Sunset, CO
Oil on Canvas 10" x 20" Available
If you've ever ventured to the towns of Montrose, Ridgeway, and Ouray in southwestern Colorado, you'll encounter the beautiful and rugged mountainscapes of the Cimarron and San Juan mountains. The Cimarron mountains can be seen to the east between Montrose and Ridgeway, and their jagged profile cuts a dynamic line into the skyline. These mountains were the home of the oldest inhabitants of Colorado, the Ute Indians, and their peaks and valleys were part of the historic hunting grounds of the Uncompagre Band, led by Chief Ouray. They are filled with sites of historic significance to the Ute people. The Ute Indian Museum outside of Montrose, is a wonderful place to visit to learn about their history. My painting, "Cimarron Mountain Sunset, Colorado," shows the ridge view at sunset, with the peaks bathed in vivid color. The artwork is hanging at Framed Image in "The Best of your Best Show," from Feb. 3 - April 30th. 5066 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, Colorado 80222. 303-692-0727
